Advanced Techniques Using a Blog

Blogs have become quite the hot topic over the last year. A Blog is the short term for a Web Log, which is really nothing more than a web site with dynamic content.

Due to the availability of various content management software, a blog site can be easily updated with new content through a handy back office interface.

Most blog software can be set to automatically notify various search and directory services each time content is updated.

This automatic update is called a ping. Because a blog pings the major search sites each time you insert new content, it is not difficult to achieve favorable search engine ranking with a blog site.

There are services that will allow you to create a blog almost effortlessly. This type of service is a great place to start if you are interested in setting up your own web log.

Blogs can be used very effectively in your email marketing campaigns. You can use them in a couple of different ways.

First, as a way to work around the spam filters, you can actually put your sales letter up on a blog. Then, instead of sending your email with your sales pitch and trying to get it past the spam filters you can just send a teaser email with a link to the blog which will have your complete newsletter on it.

There are advantages and disadvantages to using this technique.

On the down side, your readers will have to click the link in your email to get to your actual sales pitch. This is where putting the proper little teaser in your email will make or break your promotions.

But on the positive side:

Your email is much more likely to get into their inbox and not their spam folder where they have to go look for it.
Also, the search engines love blogs and you may actually benefit from people who are not subscribers finding your sales offer while searching for a topic on Google or Yahoo.

Because of the availability of RSS feed through most blog software, your opt-in readers (and anyone else that finds your blog) can choose to be notified of the changes to your blog via RSS publishing even before you send out an email.

RSS feeds will only continue to grow in popularity and we are seeing more and more marketers adopt this highly effective technique.

Blogs and RSS publishing will be topics for our next newsletter.  If you have not signed up for our newsletter you can do so by clicking herehttp://www.learnonlinevideo.com/bttsubbox.html
